My journey into yoga began over 20 years ago when my children were young. The craziness of being a young mom with three small children limited my ability to be away from my home other than during work hours. I began doing yoga in my living room and it just became a way of life. Over the past 20 years, as I was able to free-up time for myself, I began running, cycling and swimming – and for all of those sports, I fell in love with distance. This fall I will run my 30th marathon, I’ve participated in multiple long-distance (and short-distance) triathlons, and swam across the Straits of Mackinaw in 2015.
To both strengthen my body and to become more flexible and nimble, especially during intense times of training, yoga has become non-negotiable. It’s my “me” space and time – a time to let everything fall away, spoil myself, reflect on life and this world, and fit more comfortably into the chaos of a busy life.
I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training at OmBodies and am now immersed in an 18 month Ayurvedic holistic health coaching program. I love sharing how Ayurveda and Yoga can transform lives. My classes at Mt. Pleasant Hot Yoga are intended to help nourish the body, mind, and spirit, and open new spaces and perspectives on just how good life can be.
